“Relish Cooking Studio recently held an Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar tasting evening with our local Opimium Society. I wanted to pass along what a wonderful evening we had with Doug Copping, your sales representative. We had scheduled this class as part of our regular season selection, but when the Opimium Society saw it, they booked the entire evening for themselves as a private event. In fact due to the popularity of this event from their members, they immediately booked a second evening (which we held back-to-back with the first evening). We invited our chef to prepare the meal for the event, which was done as a pairing, alongside the wines the Opimium Society provided.
Doug was well prepared, professional and extremely knowledgeable at the event and gave a thorough presentation as he walked all the participants through the world of olive oils. Each of the Sarafino oils were used in a fantastic array of dishes and recipes that our chef Mark Brown paired so well with the oils. As we are a demonstration-style cooking school, participants were able to watch first hand how to use the oils in a variety of cooking and preparation techniques. Following the olive oil tasting, we moved onto the balsamic vinegars that Sarafino distributes and we sell at Relish. Again, Doug was exceptionally knowledgeable and articulate and guests were astounded at the various flavour profiles these vinegars had. At Doug’s suggestion, we brought in 8 bottles of the 15 year old Balsamic, which we were a little hesitant to do (as we are a new business and conscious of dollars spent). Over the course of both evenings, we sold almost all of the stock we had including all but 3 bottles of the 15-year old vinegar.
We want to thank you again for providing Doug with such a great product and knowledge base. We have been asked if we will conduct this event again, and we have it scheduled for Wednesday March 28th. (We are looking forward to) enjoying a fantastic evening of food and wine alongside your Sarafino olive oils and vinegars.
